Before the Ring & Proposal
Kate was living in northern Vermont when Marco started working for her father on Block Island. A family event five years ago brought her home for a weekend and that is when Kate and Marco first met. They started spending time together a few years later when Kate moved home. In the months that followed, Kate and Marco began to realize their love for each other was growing as fast as their friendship and on a sunny day in March of 2015 the couple went for a walk on the beach with Kate's dogs. There in the sand, with the waves crashing along the shoreline, Marco turned to Kate and dropped to a knee and asked Kate to be his wife. Kate's answer was, of course, "Yes!"

Block Island because..... "It is where we live and work, it is our home."

The Day & Design

With so much of their relationship revolving around the farm that Kate grew up on, Kate and Marco wanted the ceremony to take place in the hay field next to the house where they live. It was a  chilly day with a bright blue sky filled with puffy white clouds. After the heartfelt ceremony, Kate and Marco invited their 220 guests to warm up inside the rustic wedding wonderland at Yellow Kittens, a favorite local hang-out. To help keep costs down, Kate and friends hand-made decorations and decorated themselves —  using colorful paper poms that hung from the ceiling and burlap runners that lined the white tablecloths. Stalks of island reeds were attached to the pillars with burlap and bows and pots of chrysanthemums were on each table — Kate really wanted a rustic and laid back style. Appetizers and dinner were prepared by Winfields, Club Soda and Kate's mother. Lobster was brought over by Marco's family (who have a fleet of fishing boats in Point Judith) and was included in the delicious spread of beloved comfort foods including pulled pork, potato salad, and homemade apple crisp.
